HOW WE GOT STARTED
“Two men, $5,000, and a dream”
Founded in 1989, DY-NA Tool & Mold has been serving customers in the Midwest for over 20 years. Owner, Randy Damratowski, and former owner, Darren Yendra each put $5,000 of their own money into the Grand Island business and also borrowed another $25,000 from the bank. A manual mill, saw, manual lathe and old surface grinder were the only pieces of equipment they had.
Later, in 1995, DY-NA moved to Kearney and built a 7,250-square-foot facility. The business began to prosper and once again expanded in 2006. This time they constructed a 4,500-square-foot addition. This addition was to accommodate the prospering business and growth in new, technologically advanced equipment.
After the unfortunate passing of owner, Randy Damratowski, DY-NA Tool & Mold was purchased in October of 2019 by Iowa Mold & Engineering, Inc. of Belle Plaine Iowa. Brad Cook, president, of IM&E was attracted to the skilled work force in place, the strategic location, and the diverse customer base of DY-NA Tool when considering the acquisition. With the synergies created by the acquisition, both companies are positioned to be more efficient and competitive within the industry.
